Reid Wakefield quoted in Newsweek, "Employer 'Hounding' Worker for His Baby's Birth Certificate Sparks Debate
03/09/2023A recent post about an employer "demanding" an employee share his newborn son's birth certificate has gone viral on Reddit.
According to Employment Law Attorney Reid Wakefield, using vacation time for a reason for which leave is required by law qualifies as protected leave. Reid was recently quoted in Newsweek discussing the employer's obligation to designate and document the leave as FMLA leave in order to comply with state and/or federal leave laws.
