Legal Update: Patent Reform Arrives

On Friday, September 16, 2011, President Obama signed into law the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, H.R. 1249. The America Invents Act is the first major United States patent system overhaul in nearly sixty years, and affects nearly all aspects of patent acquisition and enforcement. The Act puts the United States in conformance with the vast majority of other countries, but will disadvantage any inventor who fails to understand the new landscape.
